Falling prices for Space Tourists

Good news for future space tourists: Prices are sinking strongly even before the first tourist suborbital spaceflights took place. Prices are more than 50% down to USD 95'000 for the whole package. Included in this price: Insurence (covering step-back for medical and business purpose), a 5-day qualification program including 5-star accommodation, medical checks, adjusting a personal space suit and helmet to your body, a simulation flight and, of course, your spaceflight to 200000ft.

Xcor Aerospace from Mojave, California, successfully develops rocket-powered vehicles since 1999. From 2011 the first passenger space flight with the Lynx space vehicle are planned. The fist training and qualification programs are planned as soon as may 2009.

Over 50% of all manned rocket-powered flights worldwide in this century have been carried out by Xcor Aerospace. Security aspects are very important at Xcor, this results in more than 3500 rocket-powered flights without a single accident. All test flights and the first tourist space flights will be done by Xcor chief test pilot Col. Richard Searfoss.

Mr. Searfoss is a living legend, he is one of only 7 NASA-Astronauts with more than 50 flights in rocket-powered vehicles. And he was the Space Shuttle Pilot who managed the successful docking to the Russian Space Station MIR in 1996. And he was best at the US Air Force Academy.

Xcor is located in the immediate neighborhood of Burt Rutans Scaled Composites, who develops the competing SpaceShipTwo for Virgin Galactic. The stronger competition already led to the expression "Star Wars" in the media. The neighborhood and the estimations by space and travelling experts of a market potential of USD 200m by 2012 led to a strong competition between Xcor and Virgin Galactic. This stronger competition is a gift for interested space customers, as it results in lower prices for trips to space. Virgin Galactic has an inital price of USD 200,000 per passenger. A ticket in the Lynx is already down at USD 95,000. And the passenger will have the better view from the Co-Pilot seat, for us a crucial advantage over the Virgin project (where the passenger will have more the feeling of a business jet-passenger).

Included in the Lynx package price is: Insurance, qualifikation, preparations during five Training days in Phoenix, including a top class accommodation in a five star hotel. And of course the Lynx space flight. The qualification process includes G-tests, medical and a simulation flight who copies the conditions during the Lynx flight.

In contrast to the Virgin Galactic project, our customer will be placed on the Co-pilot seat, which results in a much better view through the huge front window and a more intensive experience. Our passenger will enjoy the sole attention by our very experienced pilot before, during and after the flight, as no other passengers are on bord.

The Lynx has a max speed of Mach 2 during the flight and accelerates to an altitude of 200‘000ft.

The Lynx is based on a simple, safe and approved technology. Horizontal take off and landing massively reduces the risks. The abortion of the space flight start or landing is possible at any time. The rocket engines can restart. This fact makes the Lynx it much safer for landings than other space vehicles, which are gliding and therefore do not have a second chance for a landing if problems occur. The rocket technology uses a liquid oxygen-kerosene-mixture  without any toxic ingredients and is very environmental-friendly. Xcor Technology was used not only by Scaled Composites (which now builds the SpaceShipTwo), but also to the NASA. 

Procedure

1. After en inital payment of USD 20,000 you will receive a medical form. In case you would fail after filling out this form, you will get your full payment back at any time.

2. You will be tested extensively at the 5 day qualification program. The dates will be fixed after agreed between you and MiGFlug. At this qualification program, you will have to proof your spaceflight ability in a G-test, simulation flight and a medical. Furthermore, you will be tested for phobia that could endanger a safe spaceflight. Your personal flight spacesuit and helmet will be tailor-made and you will be prepared for the Lynx space flight. If you would fail one of this tests, you will receive your initial payment back, excluding the costs that turned on for your training so far.

3. After your space flight and qualification program, you will have to wire the remaining USD 75,000 to us. The date for the Lynx-flight will be fixed after your preferences in a time-frame of 7 years. The included special insurance covers a step-back for purposes like medical or business.
