René is Founding Member from Virgin Galactic- The World's first Spaceline from the well-known Virgin-founder Sir Richard Branson.
To prepare his spaceflight, Rene took a ride in a MiG-29 Fulcrum with up to 8G-Forces. René wrote us:
I hope you are well back in Switzerland and had a good trip to the airshow. I had a great time in Russia and the flight was worth every penny. Thanks for personally coming as well. Also, the driver who picked me up was a really nice guy and he refused to take a tip.

I want to thank you for my recent FANTASTIC experience flying the L-39 out of Los Angeles. My pilot was extremely professional yet relaxed and friendly. I knew I was in good hands. We spent a great deal of time discussing what I wanted to do during the flight, rather than him just flying around with me in the backseat. A very nice touch. The safety briefing was very comprehensive, and at no time did I feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
The aircraft itself was superb, very comfortable, a spacious cockpit with great visibility. Taxiing out, the feeling of anticipation was sensational, only to be surpassed by the opportunity to eventually take control of the aircraft under Barry's expert supervision. This was a truly unforgettable experience. Once again, thank you for providing me with this unique opportunity.

Hier eine kurze Zusammenfassung: Es war wirklich eine ausergewöhnliche Erfahrung zu erleben welche enormen physischen Kräfte auf einen wirken. Das, auf was es mir ankam, habe ich im vollen Umfang erlebt. Zum einem in Bodennähe mit hoher Geschwindigkeit zu fliegen, sowie hohe G-Kräfte zu spüren. Auch mal selbst ein Kampfflugzeug zu fliegen, war schon ein besonderes Erlebnis. Dies hat auch relativ gut geklappt! Der Kurvenflug mit vollem Nachbrennerschub, bei dem der Schleppzeiger des g-Meters bei 7g hängen blieb, war für mich das Highlight. Diese enormen körperlichen Belastungen zu spüren. Ich finde es wahnsinnig beeindruckend was Piloten hier leisten, unter diesen Belastungen noch ein Flugzeug zu fliegen, navigieren... und dann noch unter dieser Stresssituation bei taktischen Einsätzen die richtigen Entscheidungen zu treffen. Kurzum ein Erlebnis das ich auf keinen Fall missen möchte. Ich sehe es auch als eine persönliche Bereicherung, da ich täglich beruflich mit dem Eurofighter Triebwerk konfrontiert bin. Ich war der verantwortliche Entwicklungsleiter für den Triebwerksregler des EJ200, so wie er 2006 in Serie gehen wird. Es ist schon eine besondere Erfahrung zu sehen welche Kraft in solchen Systemen steckt. Meine Vorstellung das der Beruf des Jetpiloten etwas besonderes ist hat sich nun noch deutlich verstärkt. Allerdings konnte ich so ein wenig meinem Kindheitstraum etwas näher kommen.
